| 描述 | Zyxin is an 82kDa zinc-binding metalloprotein found in focal adhesion plaques. It contains a proline-rich N-terminal domain and a C-terminal domain containing three LIM domains. LIM domains are characterized as zinc-binding motifs involved in gene expression protein-protein interactions. Zyxin interacts with several focal adhesion proteins including α-actinin, Vav, and another LIM domain-containing protein, cCRP. Zyxin associates selectively with an SH3 domain of p95 Vav through its proline-rich N-terminal domain. The focal adhesion protein VASP has also been shown to interact with the 83kDa human homologue of zyxin, p83. Other LIM-containing proteins function as transcription factors or as growth and differentiation factors in embryogenesis. Zyxin and its homologues appear to be involved in the transduction of extracellular signals originating at focal adhesion plaques. |
