背景 | The glyoxalase system consists of two enzymes, Glyoxalase I and Glyoxalase II. The purpose of the glyoxalase system is to detoxify alpha-ketoaldehydes, particularly methylglyoxal, a by-product of glycolysis. Glyoxalase II catalyzes the hydrolysis of S-lactoylglutathione, the product of the glyoxalase I reaction, to glutathione and lactate. Glyoxalase II exists as two isoforms, one cytosolic and one mitochondrial. The enzyme is believed to be important for the response of cells to stress. |

Detection of Human, Mouse, and Rat Glyoxalase II by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line, human liver, human kidney, mouse liver, and rat liver tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human/Mouse/Rat Glyoxalase II Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5944) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for Glyoxalase II at approximately XXX kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8. |
