背景	Cited-2 is a 270 amino acid protein that functions by binding to the CH1 region of CREB binding protein (CBP)/p300. This binding interferes with certain transcription factors like HIF1 alpha and STAT2 blocking their ability to bind and interact with CBP/p300. Cited-2 knockout mice die due to defects in heart and neural tube development. Mutations in Cited-2 have been reported in patients with congenital heart defects. It appears Cited-2 modulates apoptosis by a p53 independent pathway whereby the details still need to be elucidated.

Detection of Human/Mouse Cited‑2 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line, C2C12 mouse myoblast cell line, and NIH‑3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Human/Mouse Cited‑2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5005) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF016). A specific band was detected for Cited‑2 at approximately 30 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.
