背景 | Mouse S100A16 (S100 calcium-binding protein A16; also S100Fand AAG13) is a 15-18 kDa member of the S100 family of calcium-bindingproteins. It is found in both cytoplasm (whenCa is high) and nucleus (when Ca is low), and its expression appears to be restrictedto astrocytes found in select areas of the brain. S100A16 is 124 amino acids (aa) in length. Based on human,it will contain an N-terminal non-Ca-binding EF-hand domain (aa 12-47), aC-terminal Ca-binding EF-hand domain (aa 54-89), and a putative FGF-1 bindingsite (aa 91-94). There is one potentialmyristoylation site (aa 54-59) and a phosphorylation site at Ser124. S100A16 will homodimerize, and perhaps formhigher order oligomers. Full length mouseS100A16 shares 95% aa identity with rat S100A16. Relative to human S100A16, mouse S100A16possesses a 21 aa Glu/Gln-rich insertion after Glu98 that reduces the shared aahomology between mouse and human S100A16 to 72% aa identity. |

Detection of Mouse S100A16 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of mouse brain (cerebellum) tissue. PVDF Membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Mouse S100A16 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF6397) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF016). A specific band was detected for S100A16 at approximately 15 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8. |
