背景 | CD164, also known as MGC-24 (Multi-glycosylated protein 24), is a type I transmembrane sialomucin containing two extracellular mucin domains linked by a non‑mucin domain. Depending on the cell type, CD164 has been localized to endosomes and lysosomes or the plasma membrane. When present at the cell surface, CD164 has been shown to function as an adhesion molecule that may play a role in hematopoiesis. At least two mouse CD164 splice variants have been reported. The shorter variant contains a 24 aa deletion between residues 86 and 109. The amino acid sequence of the extracellular domain of mouse CD164 is 79% and 58% identical to that of the rat and human protein, respectively. |
