背景 | FAM3B, also known as Pancreatic-Derived factor (PANDER), is a secreted, monomeric, 23 kDa glycoprotein that belongs to a new family of four-helix bundle cytokines. It is highly expressed in pancreatic islet cells and reproductive epithelium. FAM3B has been shown to induce b-cell apoptosis and decrease insulin secretion. Two alternative N-termini, at Glu 30 and Ser 46, have been observed for mature FAM3B. The long version of mature mouse FAM3B shares 80%, 92%, and 75% amino acid sequence homology with the human, rat and canine mature FAM3B, respectively. |
