| 背景 | SMYD2 (SET and MYND domain containing protein 2) is a lysine methyltransferase that methylates both histones and non-histone proteins. Specifically, SMYD2 methylates histone H3 Lys4 (H3K4me1) and dimethylates histone H3 Lys36 (H3K36me2). SMYD2 also exhibits methyltransferase activity toward non-histone proteins such as p53 and pRb. SMYD2 monomethylates Lys370 of p53, leading to decreased DNA-binding activity and subsequent inhibition of p53-mediated transcriptional regulation. SMYD2 also monomethylates Lys860 of pRb. |
